Cost of advertising

ITV can offer tailored advertising solutions to reach audiences across the UK.

With the advent of multi-channel television, not only do viewers have much more choice, but affordable solutions are also available to advertisers. You no longer need a £1m advertising budget to get your brand onto television. Did you know that you could launch a campaign on ITV for as little as £1,500?

Our dedicated teams are here to dispel the myth that television is an expensive and complicated medium. We now offer a highly flexible approach to meet individual clients’ needs and can help turn a creative concept with a relatively small budget into a commercial reality within a short space of time.

We can ensure a cost-effective package is delivered to you. Campaign costs will depend on which channel you use (ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 or CiTV), whether it’s a network or a regional campaign, the target audience, the season and the daypart required. (Full details on the effect of these factors can be seen from the links on the right hand side.)

Whilst ITV1 is a national channel, airtime can be bought (subject to availability) in any combination of regions, macro & micro regions; for example, the South East Macro, which is made up of Anglia and Meridian. ITV also offers targeted regional test marketing solutions for local advertisers. Within some ITV1 regions, there is an opportunity to target a micro region within the region.

Taking Meridian as an example, if you had a brand that was specific to the Kent region, you could purchase ITV1 airtime within the Meridian Kent micro area. The benefit of this is that it's more targeted, and potentially more cost-effective. The ITV1 regions that offer unique micro areas include Anglia, Central, Meridian and Wales and the West. (Maps and details are available below).

Whether you require a national or a regional campaign, you can exploit the full 360º benefits of the ITV properties to fit your needs more closely and deliver the audience you require. Our 360º solutions include broadcast sponsorship, interactive, mobile and online advertising. Full details and examples of these can be found in the Brand Activation section of the website.

Please contact your local office for bespoke campaign proposals and cost estimates. We’re always happy to help and advise. Local Offices

For all the reasons given before, it's impossible to provide exact information on the cost of buying advertising on ITV, so we can only give general guides. These are available to download by clicking on the links on the right:

  • Example spot costs shows example costs of advertising on the ITV network and individual ITV1 regions in different kinds of spot. All costs are based on 30-second commercials, average spot ratings and the year average cost per thousands for 2008. Again, these figures are for historical reference only. Future pricing will be based on timing, market conditions and other factors.
  • Example multi-channel costs shows typical costs for a 30-second campaign on ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CiTV and Men & Motors. All prices are based on typical traded discounts off ITV ratecard annual averages.
