Banner/rich media banner
A standard banner is 468 x 60 pixels and is either static or animated. Animation is typically in gif or flash format. ‘Skyscraper’ banners are a larger, vertical format, while a rich media banner enables the dimensions of the standard ad to extend when this option is selected by the user, to provide a larger creative canvas and interactive components.
Many kinds of creative content can appear from or interact with a standard ad position. Popular uses include:
- Roll or drop-down
- Creative entering or leaving a banner
- Data capture
- Information delivery
- Forms
- Games
Popup/rich media popup
Popups appear on a specifically targeted page and ‘pop up’ as a separate element. A standard popup is usually 200 x 200 pixels.
A rich media ‘Toast’ popup is split into individual elements to maximise download speed and minimise the number of page impressions required for the ad to be viewed. It downloads in the background and literally pops up when it's ready. The creative file size is allowed to rise above the standard 30k popup limit, to a combined maximum of 100k. The recommended dimensions of a Toast popup are 400 x 300 pixels.
