ITV appoints new Director of Viewer Marketing

27th April 2009

ITV today announced the appointment of Rob Farmer as Director of Viewer Marketing, reporting to David Pemsel, ITV’s Group Marketing Director.

The Director of Viewer Marketing is responsible for marketing all programming on ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4, both on-air and off-air, through paid media. In addition, Rob will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing strategic and creative development of ITV’s channel brands, including the extension of content onto new platforms such as Freeview and freesat.

Rob joins ITV from Freeview, where he was Director of Marketing Communications with responsibility for the relaunch of the digital recording service Freeview+, in a campaign featuring Steve Rider, Andy Townsend, Alan Carr, Gordon Ramsay and stars from Coronation Street. Rob also led Freeview’s marketing strategy for digital switchover, winning over 60% of analogues in Selkirk and introducing the brand line ‘Why pay to view when you can Freeview’.

Prior to joining Freeview, Rob was a partner at the advertising agency CHI&Partners and a Board Director at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, running the Levi’s Europe business.

Rob Farmer said: "I am delighted to be joining ITV’s marketing team at an exciting and significant time in the development of its marketing and branding strategy, and I am looking forward to bringing my passion and experience of consumer communication to ITV."

David Pemsel, Group Marketing Director at ITV, said: "We are delighted to welcome Rob to ITV. His expertise in marketing communication, from both agency and client side, will enable the team to build on the excellent progress already achieved in communicating our programming and channel propositions to viewers."
