A huge peak audience of 11.8m viewers (50% viewing share) watched the return of Britain’s Got Talent last night on ITV1.
An average of 10.3m (45% share) watched the entire first programme of the third series from 7.45pm to 9.15pm – the highest ever series opener and a 17% increase on 2008’s opening episode (8.8m on 12 April 2008).
At the same time on BBC1, Robin Hood attracted an average audience of 5.3m (23% share), followed by National Lottery: 1 vs 100, with 4.0m (17% share).
