ITV3 says “Thank you” to mum... and gives her the remote control
25th February 2009
To say thank you to mums across the UK, ITV3 is dedicating the schedule on Mother’s Day entirely to the most special ladies in our lives.
The highlight of the Mother’s Day schedule on Sunday 22 March will come when the channel gives mothers across the country the chance to take a well deserved break with a movie of their choice. In a free vote, sponsored by Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, viewers will be able to vote online and pick from five classic films that appeal to mums of all ages.
The vote, which opens on 27 February at www.itv.com/mum, will be between five acclaimed movies, each of which is perfect to relax and unwind to. They range from lavish period films like the Oscar-winning Shakespeare In Love and multi-Oscar-nominated Pride And Prejudice to Golden Globe nominees such as Cher and Bob Hoskins’ Mermaids and Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts’ Stepmom. Rounding out the quintet of acclaimed movies is Pauline Collins’ Oscar-nominated turn in Willy Russell’s classic Shirley Valentine.
Other programming across the Mother’s Day schedule includes much-loved dramas, from the recent acclaimed Austen adaptation Persuasion – starring Rupert Penry-Jones, Sally Hawkins and Anthony Head – to Pollyanna, with Amanda Burton. Other highlights include documentaries such as The Story Of The Costume Drama and Abba: The Mamma Mia Story.
Voting is open exclusively at www.itv.com/mum from Friday 27 February and will close on Wednesday 18 March. For full terms and conditions please visit www.itv.com/mum.
