ITV.com re-launches its football offering

17/07/2009

ITV.com, the home of ITV online, today announced that its football destination www.itv.com/football has re-launched this week in preparation for the 2009/10 football season.

The new site will be focused around the unrivalled free-to-air football offering from ITV including key tournaments such as UEFA Champions League, The FA Cup, England Internationals, and UEFA Europa League – as well as looking ahead to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

As part of the new features ITV.com/football is launching a new daily interactive feature entitled Rate the Rumour which allows users to vote on how likely or unlikely they think that morning’s newspaper gossip is. The top rumours from past weeks will be archived so users can check back to see how many of them foresaw that a particular transfer was going to take place.

Richard Northen, Sports Editor, ITV Online said: “ITV is bursting with top-class football action this season, including the 2010 World Cup, England, Champions League and FA Cup. Rate the Rumour is the first of a number of innovations at ITV.com/football that will put fans at the heart of the action. Football is all about great goals, news and opinion and, with a wealth of interactive features and exclusive online video, ITV.com can’t wait for kick-off.”

A second phase of features including more new functionality and new designs specific to each and every tournament that ITV covers will be launched in the Autumn.
