Weekend's Ratings

Weekend Summary

Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1st April

BBC One just pipped us to the post on Saturday night with a peak time average audience of 6.2 million / 27% share versus ITV1’s average audience of 6.1 million viewers / 27% share.

On Sunday, BBC One won in peak time with 6.3 million viewers and 27% share versus ITV1’s 4 millions viewers and 17% share.

Britain’s Got Talent was the most watched programme of the weekend with an average audience of 10.4 million and a staggering 42% share. This episode was up 0.5 million on the opening episode last week and also up by 0.7 million on the second episode last year.

The second most watched programme of the weekend was The Voice UK on BBC1. It’s viewing has also grown just over half a million viewers from its opening episode, it achieved an average audience of 9 million and a 39% share.

The top programme on Sunday was BBC1’s Antiques Roadshow. This Wimbledon special achieved 6.8 million viewers and a 28% share which is over a million viewers more than last weeks episode. The new series of Silent Witness on BBC1 also got off to a good start on Sunday with 6.7million viewers / 27% share.

ITV1’s Titanic was the 5th most watched programme on Sunday. Its average audience dropped by 2.7 million this week from its opening episode to an average audience of 4.7 million / 19% share. It will be interesting to see what this consolidates to.

Perspectives on ITV1 last night at 10.15pm saw Lenny Henry tackle Shakespeare had an average audience of 759,000 and a 5% share.

Over on the digital channel, Live Ford Super Sunday – Tottenham Hotspur v Swansea City was the most popular programme of the day.

This played out on the Sky Sports 1 channel to an audience of 1.5 million / 11.3%. The earlier match, Newcastle United v Liverpool also performed well pulling in 1.3 million / 14.7% share.

On our own channels, Benidorm played out at 21:00 on ITV2 to an audience of 1 million / 4%. Britain’s Got Talent and the spin off Britain’s got more Talent has 3 spots in the digital top ten this weekend – all with performance near to 1 million viewers / 4% share.
