Thomas Langshaw Business Development Manager
What does your job title mean:
Our goal is to simplify advertising across all media and specifically the ITV platforms to potential advertisers from the UK and around the world. Within the business development department we deal with the sole trader from Hull wishing to target the city to the multi national business that has been advertising for 50+ years.
We concentrate less on an advertisers’ budget. Instead we look to find communication packages that suits their needs, time scales and most importantly what achieves their marketing/business objectives. In summary we are a route to the world of TV, online and mobile advertising.
Favourite website:
I am going to cheat and have 4.
Guardian.co.uk – for news, culture and all things media
ITV.com - great for catching up with the latest sporting action from the Champions League, Tour De France (in July obviously) and the rugby. Also if I miss an episode of Lewis I can catch up on our Mac.
roughtrade.com - so I can keep up to speed with all the new music releases and finally ….
thedolectures.co.uk - where you can watch speakers discuss anything from the future of the book in an ipad era to sustainable architecture.
Favourite Ad:
Being a new dad I am going to have to say the Darth Vader Volkswagen Passat Ad.
The creative shows a young boy dressed in his best Darth Vader outfit frustratingly trying to summon the ‘force’ but to no avail. When his dad arrives home his son ignores him but again tries to summon the ‘force’ on the car. The dad – now in the kitchen – uses the remote locking to convince his son he is a Jedi. That’s what being a dad is all about!
The creative first featured in this years’ Super Bowl and now has over 34 million hits it just goes to show the power of event TV nothing quite makes the same impact, it just keeps on growing.
Dinner guest, dead or alive:
The three times world surfing champion Tom Curren in my opinion one of the fathers of modern day surfing and my idol growing up in sunny Cornwall.
If Tom was busy I could certainly make do with Marion Cotillard I could even show her my levitation trick (see below)
What would you perform on Britain’s Got Talent:
My levitation trick … I think it was what first attracted my wife to me, I’ll say no more.
