New Weekend Entertainment Dominates Social TV

New Entertainment programmes were driving TV related Twitter activity this weekend, occupying 6 spots out of the Top 10 for Friday and Saturday, according to SecondSync.
X Factor not only dominated TV ratings, it also dominated Twitter tweet leaderboards with Saturday's show generating 552,000 tweets; a 25% increase in comparison to last year's first episode of the series. The programme also got users to take to their second screens with 50% of tweets coming from iPhones. Engagement levels reached a peak during J Star’s rendition of Hallelujah at 8.13pm, resulting in 13,504 tweets per minute and @TheXFactor account produced the most retweeted post  generating 5,873 tweets.

 


Preliminary numbers from SecondSync show that Sunday’s 2nd episode of the series generated over 200,000 tweets.

 


Our other new entertainment programme launch, Through the Keyhole presented by Keith Lemon also performed well securing 3rd position on the Saturday leaderboard with 20,0000 tweets as well as the brand new celebrity dance show, Stepping Out, which saw 11,000 tweets.

 

The new series of Celebrity Juice aired on Thursday on ITV2 and featured the return of panelist Fearne Cotton.The show had 46,473 tweets generated from 34,000 individual Twitter users with 5,000 tweets appearing 30 minutes before the show was even broadcast. Tweets peaked at 2,318 per minute at 10.04pm and averaged at 735 a minute.
