We welcomed our advertisers and media agency folk to the hottest television event of the year- the ITV Upfronts 2014.
The show was held in London Television Studios in Southbank and hosted by the fabulous Paddy McGuinness against a projection mapped backdrop which adapted to each special speaker upon entering the stage.
The dazzling show got started with an electrifying performance by BGT's semi-finalists, Light Balance and as the day of the show was exactly 365 days away from the Rugby World Cup 2015, to mark the special occassion Mark Durden-Smith was joined on stage by rugby legends Lawrence Dallaglio, Gareth Thomas, Scott Hastings and Danny Care.
The theme of this year’s Upfronts was ‘Where Brands Live’ founded upon the message that ITV is the most watched, most loved and most talked about commercial channel in the UK.
Fru Hazlitt, Commercial, Interactive and Online, MD, gave a passionate speech on the power of television and the direction of ITV for the upcoming year.
“Television remains an incredibly powerful advertising platform,” she said. “Its unique ability to entertain audiences has not diminished.”
Hazlitt revealed that ITV Player would be completely revamped, and gave the audience a sneak peek at ITV’s research project, Primal Screen, which is looking at the special relationship viewers have with television.
Director of Television, Peter Fincham, reflected on the past year and spoke about all of the exciting programmes coming up in 2015.
The audience was treated to exclusive clips of new programmes ranging from Keith Lemon’s Sketch Show to Trevor McDonald and the Mafia, from Grantchester to the Great Fire, Downton Abbey, Thunderbirds and a world exclusive glimpse of Broadchurch 2.
Rufus Radcliffe, Group Marketing and Research Director, introduced the newest member to the ITV family, ITVBe, a channel that centres on reality entertainment launching 8th October.
The show came to an end with a powerful performance from X Factor's Ella Henderson, which performed an exclusive brand new track for us as well as her debut no. 1 single, Ghost.
We then invited our guests to our after party which continued our "WhereBrands Live" theme with a "Where Sport Lives", "Where Drama Lives" and ""Where Entertainers Live"" featuring a showtime stage where guests were entertained all night long with appearances from Collabro, Lucy Kay, Ben Hanlin and Rough Copy.
