Catch up on ITVX: The First Year, where we debrief the numbers behind our first 12 months, with insights into how viewing is transforming, and a view of our programming performance and plans.
ITVX launched on 8th December last year, as a key platform for ITV’s future. In a world where viewing is transitioning from linear to IP, ITVX is central to our overall strategy.
We’ve invested significantly in our content library making ITVX a destination for discovery. Taking it from 7,000 hours last year, to over 22,000 today - with programming from both sides of the Atlantic, online exclusives, with more comedy, more shows for 18-34s, over 800 movies, a doubling of kids’ programming, and even animé.
We’ve continued to invest millions in marketing ITVX, both on and off ITV-owned platforms, which has driven our share of the streaming market. In the last 6 months, we’ve grown our distribution, through the integration of the ITVX app within the Sky and Virgin platforms, with more platforms planned for next year.
Commercially, we now have a scaled addressable proposition. On top of VOD inventory on ITVX, we’ve recently introduced addressability on linear with the addition of YouView. And this is set to grow further with both Sky and Virgin platforms over IP next year.
Planet V is the front door to that addressability where we have a growing menu of addressable products, such as Matchmaker which sees us blend our first party data with Tesco Clubcard and Boots Advantage customer data.
Since launch, ITVX has delivered over 2.5 billion streams. That’s a 69% increase versus the same period last year.
