ITV Unveils Rugby World Cup 2015 App

ITV has today revealed details of its dedicated Rugby World Cup 2015 app, which will launch with a host of interactive features and be available before the tournament kicks off at Twickenham on Friday 18th September.

Free to download on both Android and iOS mobile devices, the app features a brand-new kicking game: ‘Kick It!’ which challenges users to try their hand at kicking penalties, including the chance to match real kicks as they happen on the pitch in live games.

The app will also include the latest news, expert analysis from our team of pundits, video highlights of every match, the best of social media, and the latest Opta data. Users can filter content by any chosen team to get quicker access to the content they want.

During match broadcasts, users can choose to switch to the app’s interactive live mode which allows them to play their part in the action, voting ‘Try’ or ‘No Try’ on crucial Television Match Official (TMO) decisions, for example, and having their say on other key moments as they happen.

Ashley Fletcher, ITV Online Product Manager, said: “Rugby World Cup 2015 is the sporting highlight of the year and we want our viewers to be at the heart of the action. Our app is a great way for fans to get even closer to games, interact with the programme and share and debate with fellow rugby fans.”

The app is sponsored by Land Rover and SSE, with Land Rover as the sole sponsor of the live mode. Specsavers is the sponsor of the Kick It! game.

During the tournament, ITV will launch the Tackle Hunger Together appeal, with the World Food Programme (WFP) the humanitarian partner of World Rugby, to raise awareness and fundraising for school meals worldwide. Users will be able to find out more about the campaign from ITV’s Rugby World Cup website at
